💳 Setting Up Payment Gateways & PSPs

Payment Gateways and PSPs (Payment Service Providers) are the backbone of your credit- and debit-card processing.  These integrations let you accept payments securely, manage settlements, and connect your business to customers worldwide — all through the Byzly platform.

What These Are

Gateways and PSPs act as the secure middle layer between your website or checkout and the banks processing your customers’ cards. They handle:

  • Credit- and debit-card payments

  • Digital-wallet transactions (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay)

  • Fraud-prevention and security screening

  • Settlement and currency conversion for global merchants

Popular Providers & Descriptions

Here are the most common gateway and PSP options supported within Byzly:

Provider Description
Stripe Global PSP offering credit/debit cards, wallets, and local methods. Easy setup but higher risk of account holds for high-ticket or long-term-delivery businesses.
Authorize.net Established U.S. gateway with powerful fraud filters.
🟢 Contact info@byzly.com to be set up.
Braintree PayPal-owned PSP supporting multiple payment methods and currencies.
Checkout.com Global processor specializing in online and subscription payments.
Cybersource Enterprise-grade Visa platform with full fraud-management suite.
Nuvei Global PSP serving standard and high-risk merchants.
Worldpay International processor with multi-currency and recurring-payment support.

💡 If your preferred card processor isn’t listed in the Payment Hub catalog, most can connect via Authorize.net or NMI Gateways. If unsure, contact your provider for guidance.

Credentials Typically Required

When setting up a provider, have these details ready:

  • API Key (public & secret)

  • Merchant ID (MID)

  • Terminal ID (if applicable)

  • Client ID & Client Secret

  • Any additional shared secret required by the provider

🔐 Store these credentials only in Byzly’s secure credential fields — never in plain text.

Setup Steps

  1. Open the Payment Hub in Byzly.

  2. Click Catalog.

  3. Select your desired provider (e.g., Stripe, Authorize.net, Braintree).

  4. Click the provider’s Quick Start Guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.

  5. Follow the instructions on that provider’s page to obtain API credentials.

  6. Enter your credentials into the Byzly fields provided.

  7. Toggle Active to enable the provider in your account.

Underwriting vs Payfacs (e.g., Stripe)

While payfacs such as Stripe offer fast onboarding, they often hold or cancel funds for higher-risk businesses — especially those:

  • Selling high-ticket products or services

  • Delivering goods/services over time

  • Operating in industries considered higher risk

Getting directly underwritten by a merchant processor reduces those risks and ensures better control over your money.
